Avoiding a squeeze off
Monday 18 May 2009

The unique nature of the Speedfit Connection means that the new Speedfit Blue Stop End for Cold Water Services can be used not only as a permanent shut off for an MDPE installation but also as a temporary cap off, avoiding the need for the use of a squeeze off tool. The simple action of pushing the Stop End on to the pipe gives a permanent shut-off. The unique feature of Speedfit however means that it is quick and easy to remove the end stop to allow work on the pipe line to recommence or in order to extend the system. Simply remove the collet cover and push the collet towards the fitting to release the pipe. The pipe can then be withdrawn. Both fitting and pipe can then be reused without the need for replacement parts. Thus, the fitting is especially useful to allow water to be turned back on, overnight for instance, or if a job has to be interrupted for some other reason. Stop Ends are also useful for pressure testing a system or doing rough inspections. The Stop End is part of a whole range of WRAS Approved push in fittings for MDPE and is available in 20mm and 25mm sizes.
